A magical Christmas experience on the farm


Meet Mother Christmas in her sitting room to check in and collect your sleigh ride tickets. If you have an afternoon time slot booked after 3pm, you are welcome to arrive before this time to take part in the activities or see the animals before meeting Father Christmas — that way you can make the most of your visit.


Meet at the sleigh pick-up for your chosen time, where Buddy the Elf will greet you and help you board Father Christmas's sleigh for your magical sleigh ride. This is a very traditional and personal visit, with just your family on the sleigh ride and visiting Father Christmas at any one time. Once you arrive at the woodland grotto you can sit by the fire and tell Father Christmas your Christmas wishes, before boarding Buddy's sleigh to be taken back to the farm.


Each paying child will receive a gift, and will be able to decorate a yummy gingerbread biscuit to take home. You can write a Christmas letter and post it in Father Christmas's post box, or make Christmas crafts with your family — and each child can make magical reindeer food to take home ready for Christmas Eve.

The cafe will be open for you to enjoy a festive hot chocolate or fill up with some hot food. The cafe also serves our delicious homemade ice creams, waffles and sundaes.


Please wrap up warm — winter can be a very cold time on the farm, so please dress appropriately. Woolly hats and gloves may be needed!

Babies under 1 who are not receiving a gift from Father Christmas go free when booked with at least one paying child. If you would like them to receive a present, please book them a Child ticket. A maximum of 10 people can fit on the sleigh per time slot — please contact us directly if your party is larger than 10.

Frequently asked questions

Is my booked timeslot the time I get on the sleigh or the time I can arrive at the farm?
Your booked time slot is the time that you board the sleigh and this is the time that your must be at the sleigh point waiting for buddy to collect you . If you miss your time slot we can not guarantee when we can next fit you in to visit father Christmas and this would then have a knock on effect on other families . Please make sure you arrive early or on time for your visit.
What do I need to wear?
Wrap up warm and dress for the weather, although we have under cover play areas and barns it can be chilly.
What time can I arrive at Birchfield ?
You are more than welcome to arrive early and take part in the activities or eat in the cafe. Please check the daily opening time for the date you have booked , the closing time for the farm and cafe would be 6pm.
Can I take a pram on the sleigh and in the grotto?
A small pram or buggy would fit on the sleigh but unfortunately a large pram or double pram would not fit in the sleigh or in Father Christmas's grotto. In this case a sling or baby carrier would be recommended.
If i can not attend my booked slot can I get a refund?
Unfortunately no refunds will be given to visitors who have booked a slot and are no longer able to attend. If you would like to transfer your ticket to another available time and date then please contact us directly by email only on : birchfieldicecream@live.co.uk. Tickets can only be moved if that date and timeslot are available on the online booking site.
Do I need to book to visit or can i turn up and book on the day?
No throughout our Christmas period the farm is only open for customers booked on the magical Christmas experience which is only bookable online. The cafe and Ice cream parlour however is open as usual to all customers even if you are not visiting Santa.
